Infrared/ IR Touch Frame
A matrix of Infrared (IR) LEDs and photo diodes are used to create a two dimensional grid over the display to detect where infrared light is blocked and thus where touchpoints are. YCLTOUCH' s available in both standard and custom industrial infrared touch screen sizes, YCLTOUCH’s projected custom infrared touch screen forms, fit or function replacements for 3M™ and Elo™ touch sensors.
IR Touch Frame Technology
IR touch screen frame technology may not be new, but it remains a favorite. It tends to be employed in large-format displays and some kiosks and point-of-sale (POS) terminals. The custom touch screen display has a long life, furthering its popularity in the digital signage and interactive display markets.
How Does Infrared Touchscreen Work?
The infrared touchscreen works by detecting interruptions of infrared beams emitted by LEDs embedded in the frame around the touchscreen overlay.
There are two rows of IR LEDs, which generate horizontal and vertical invisible IR beams. They form a large beam grid that covers the surface of the overlay. In the meantime, two rows of photoreceptors are installed on the opposite side of the LEDs.
As long as an opaque object touches the surface, it will blot out the light beams. Photoreceptors in both directions (vertical and horizontal) can detect this interruption by that object, and finally localize the x and y coordinates, and then send the signal to the processor to respond with relevant action.
